Road 15 Detour

My Road 15 Charm packs arrived last week so as usual I abandoned my current project and started a new one.
At least it was another Road 15 project.

I made some half square triangles out of all the charm squares for some pinwheel action.

After that disaster..(only 75% of the pinwheels turned out decent. Apparently I need to work on my matching points in triangles) I constructed this fun little mini quilt.

I'm going to keep it real here and just say one of my pinwheel blocks turned out so..."off"... I had to seam rip the whole side out. It was that red and black one up top. At this point I wasn't going to steal another charm pack from my store for myself to make a new pinwheel so had to improvise. I just sewed a jelly roll strip on and attached the strip with the lame pinwheel on the other side...you can hardly tell it's got problems now.
Ah well it doesn't even matter to me because Emma LOVES it. You wouldn't think of Sweetwater fabric to be a baby quilt color combo. It's not all bright colors and baby pink/blue.
I think that's why she likes it though. She kept grabbing at the black triangles so as soon as my yardage comes in August 7th I'm going to pick a good texty print for the back, quilt it, and give it to her to use.

If you haven't got some of this wonderful fabric yet, I've got some Road 15 in my Etsy Shop here with some great prices on mini fat eighth bundles. I'm also sending a Road 15 mini charm pack out with every order that contains something Road 15 in it while supplies last.
Ordering for yardage will be available Tuesday August 6th from my webstore. We will start cutting/shipping on Wed.
Thanks for visiting. I'll be back later this week with my finished Road 15 mini quilt...or some new project I took a detour on. :)

Best Fabric Week EVER

Not a lot of sewing has happened lately. My poor Road 15 quilt has been put on hold. However, the UPS man has brought us so much new fabric the past couple of days I can't complain. We received some more Posy by Aneela Hoey. I am loving all her quilts she is making with her fabric lines . I think Posy is my favorite but Hello Petal may top it which we will have in December.

Simply Style by V and Co has arrived and I absolutely love it. These will make the best bags and skirts I think. They will also look good as blenders for quilts.

The ombre chevrons are amazing.

I need to order her Hampton patterns for the shop...and make one for myself...or two...

Also as you probably noticed from the top photo Briar Rose is finally here!!! We've all been waiting (some of us impatiently) for this moment.
We have all of it, even the jersey knits. I am going to deconstruct one of Emma's onesies to create a template and sew up some in these adorable prints.

We have the complete fat quarter bundle available here however we also have a fat quarter option on each print in our shop so you can customize your own fat quarter bundle.

Tomorrow Collage and my sample spree fabric will be here. I'm mad because tomorrow is my work day so I'll have to wait until tomorrow night to play in it.
I'll be listing a couple of the bundles for sale though tomorrow night.
:)

Road 15 Quilt pt1

Holiday sewing is always fun. I woke up this morning, went walking, got a coffee, lunch, then came back and started on my Swell quilt from the book Simply Retro by Camille Roskelley.

I really love this book! The directions are easy to follow and every pattern inside is something I would want to make.
The blocks for Swell go together fairly quickly. I used my Road 15 by Sweetwater jelly roll along with a cream colored Bella Solid jelly roll for the "white blocks".

Here are four of the blocks sewn together to create the main unit. I can't wait to get this done hopefully this weekend. Of course my mom is already after me for it. She's been guilting me into giving it to her since she's baby sitting Emma for free a couple days a week now.

It's going to be really hard to let it go...........

                                                             Look what came in!!!
Oh how I love this fabric line. Lots of texty goodness and cute houses.

I have a good amount of mini charms left but only 2 jelly rolls left if you were contemplating getting some of this fabric early before it's released next month.
Here is a photo of some mini charms so you can see the scale of the designs. They are small and I really appreciate that. Lots of patchwork and paper piecing can be done with this.

Right now I am almost done with a set of Road 15 quilted coasters for someone. After that I am starting a quilt just for fun because I've been anticipating this line for quite a while now.
I'll be back later this week with a post on the final projects.
I hope everyone in the US has a wonderful 4th of July tomorrow. I may do a holiday sale if I can get my act together in time. :)

Suzuko Koseki Summer Bag

Summer is in full swing over here so blogging has taken a major back seat into my daily life. With summer camps and VBS plus work I have hardly any time to come online.
I did manage to create a new summer bag though and really love how it came out.

I quickly drafted my own little pattern with the size and shape I wanted then actually managed to sew it up during Emma's naptime.
I really love this fabric, I purchased it off of Etsy a long time ago and hoarded it until I decided a bag would be the perfect project for it.

Still, I wish I had a bolt of it.
I'm not sure what I will do tomorrow. My work has been pretty awesome and letting me only work four days a week so I get Thursdays off to spend time with Emma which I'm really happy about. When she isn't fake coughing for attention and will actually take a long enough nap I can sew! :)
Maybe I can start on the steampunk quilt or Dr. Who.a.long......

Destash Sale on Etsy

Hey Everyone, I just wanted to say I have a destash sale going on Etsy right now.
Lots of Out of Print designer fabrics plus some Japanese novelty prints are listed.
I'll have more as the weekend progresses. I have a lot so I'm having to do a little at a time. :)

Sadly we've come to the decision that in August I will have to return to work full time. This means that I will no longer be able to squeeze in sewing time to create items for Etsy and other venues. That is why I decided to go ahead and part with my beloved fabric I had been hoarding. This also means that my dear sweet Emma will be thrust into daycare which breaks my heart but what can you do?

Anyways thank you all for shopping with me and I know my fabric will go into some great people's collections. If you happen to buy some please email me or comment with a link of what you make with it. I had the hardest time parting with my Anna Maria Horner prints since they are so hard to find.

I'll be back soon
The new discount code is JUNE15

I got this preview of Tule in my email the other day and fell in love. I wish I could be going to quilt market next month to see what else Art Gallery is going to have coming out but this one for sure will mine!

I've really been into the triangles lately on designs for some reason. I guess other people are too with how well Indian Summer sold. The tepee prints were a hit. :)
Anyway, check out Art Gallery's video about this line below:

Doctor Who Tee

While browsing embroidery patterns on Urban Threads, I discovered this cute police box. Of course Kody saw it and had to have it on something so I decided I would put it on the corner of a plain blue shirt he had.
Since I have only had an embroidery machine for a few weeks I really didn't know how I was going to sew something on the front of it without attaching the back of the shirt to the front. I decided to take a piece of fabric and sew the tardis on that, then sew the "patch" to the t-shirt with my sewing machine.

I'm happy how it came out however curious as to how people embroider on shirts? Especially onsies.
The main reason I wanted the embroidery machine was to embroider cute things on Emma's clothes but unless I take out the side seam, embroider, then re-sew the seam, I don't see how it will work.
Does anyone have an embroidery machine that knows how to do this?

p.s. for Doctor Who fans there is a paper piecing quilt a long starting soon. Visit the Flickr group here.

So I was debating whether or not to purchase this line because the colors were not really my colors. I am more of a purple/pink/turquoise person.

However, the more I looked at my little swatch set of this the more it grew on me. I decided to make something out of it to see how it looked in an every day item and I must say I loved it.

Cloud9 has some other fun project ideas using this fabric line as well.
Now if I can wait until Koi is available. :)
